Our dedicated Traveling Midwives are courageous, compassionate, and highly skilled professionals who embark on journeys to the most isolated villages and towns, bringing essential maternal and child health services directly to those who need them most. Meet Our Founder & Lead Midwife: Lovetti Lafua
The heart and soul behind The Traveling Midwife initiative is Lovetti Lafua, a truly visionary leader and a compassionate force in maternal and child health. Lovetti holds an impressive array of qualifications, including a Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Midwife (RM), Bsc Nursing Science, Bsc Midwifery Science, RN/RM Master Biology, and Master Maternal Health. With over two decades of experience, her work is both a calling and a global journey—one that has taken her across continents, supporting births, learning from women, and bridging ancestral wisdom with modern, evidence-based care.
Lovetti’s work is deeply rooted in her global experiences, having spent the major part of her adult life in diverse countries. This extensive exposure has profoundly enriched her understanding of various cultural practices, unique needs, and the universal challenges faced by expectant mothers and children.
After completing her comprehensive studies and gaining invaluable international experience, Lovetti made a pivotal decision: to dedicate her expertise to reaching out to the most vulnerable. She focused her passion on providing accessible, quality care to rural and underserved areas, where her services are offered completely free of charge. This unwavering commitment led her to establish The Traveling Midwife, driven by the profound belief that robust healthcare requires not just static clinics, but also dynamic, mobile care that meets people where they are. Her tireless efforts, innovative strategies, and deep empathy have inspired a global network of volunteers and supporters, transforming countless lives and strengthening communities one birth at a time. Lovetti embodies the spirit of resilience, knowledge, and unwavering care that defines our mission.
